On Thursday, July 3, 2025, WikiLib took place—an informal gathering that brought together around 35 participants, including librarians and staff from major Roman and Vatican library systems. The initiative served as a spontaneous opportunity for discussion, with no scheduled speakers, focusing on topics related to metadata and cataloging for the semantic web, with particular attention to projects that use tools such as Wikidata and WikiBase.
Topics discussed included data description techniques, user services, and the sharing of best practices in the field of digital librarianship.
In addition to our Library, representatives and collaborators from several institutions took part in the meeting, including:
-
URBE – Union of Roman Ecclesiastical Libraries, with the PARSIFAL project
-
URBS – Union of Roman Scientific Libraries
-
ICCU-SBN – Central Institute for the Union Catalog of Italian Libraries – National Library Service
-
BAV – Vatican Apostolic Library
-
EFROME – École française de Rome
-
SNS – Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa
