The Heart of Work. The Future of Work and its Meaning: New Christian Perspectives 500 Years after the Reformation is the theme of Interdisciplinary Congress promoted by the School of Theology and Research Center Markets, Culture & Ethics in October, 19-20, 2017. Various disciplines and perspectives will be engaged in the Conference. Philosophy, history, sociology and economics will be involved in the examination of work in Western culture and its roots. Theology will be especially involved in the topic of the sanctification of professional work.  
"European Values Today" was the title of the International Conference promoted at the University on Thursday, 12 October 2017 by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland at the Holy See. Intervened ad the Conference: Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States, Card. Peter Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Integral Human Development, Minister Krzysztof Szczerski, Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, and other authorities and academics.
Starting on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 (at 15:30, A301), on the initiative of the Center for Priestly Formation, a new edition of the Ars Celebrandi Course will be held, aimed at priests and designed to deepen the aspects of a fruitful participation of the faithful to the Eucharistic celebration. Among the speakers, Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and Bishop Guido Marini, Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations.
From October 4 to 7, 2017, at the Laterana, Gregoriana and Santa Croce Pontifical Universities in Rome, the XVI International Congress on Canon Law of the Consociatio Internationalis Studio Iuris Canonici promovendo was held, dedicated to the 100 years of the first code of canon law of 1917. Our University hosted the session dedicated to round tables in the afternoon of October 5th. More information
Beginning on October, 10, 2017, the Department of Languages will offer a Latin course in the afternoons, taught in an engaging and upbeat way.  The method involves using Latin as the only language of communication between professors and students.  At end of the course the student is awarded a certificate equivalent to 6 ECTS. The increasing importance of English in the Church has led the University to offer the possibility of a number of Licentiate Courses in the English language. Some of them will also be characterized by a methodology nearer to the Anglo-Saxon tradition. They are open to students of other universities in Rome and can be taken as elective courses.
Tuesday, October 3, 2017, the Inauguration Ceremony opening the 2017/2018 Academic Year took place. The traditional votive Mass of the Holy Spirit was held in Sant'Apollinare Basilica. The Holy Mass was presided by the Grand Chancellor of the University, Mons. Fernando Ocáriz, and con-celebrated by clergy from the different faculties. In Aula Magna 'Giovanni Paolo II', the Solemn Academic Act took place. Rev. Prof. Héctor Franceschi, from the School of Canon Law, gave the inaugural speech on the theme Why marry? Reflections on marriage in current culture.
