On Thursday, July 13, 2017, on the initiative of the Embassy of Guatemala to the Holy See, the University hosted a Meeting with Msgr. Francisco Javier Frojan, from the Secretariat of the State, on the themes of the Encyclical Laudato is, with the participation of members of Central America Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See. There were present Ambassadors of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, who presented initiatives in their respective countries, starting with the suggestions contained in the Pope Francis' Encyclical.
On Wednesday, July 5, 2017, Joaquín Navarro-Valls, Visiting Professor of the School of Church Communications, passed away in Rome. Born in Cartagena (Spain) in 1936, he was twenty-two years old in charge of the Vatican Communication as Director of the Press Room of the Holy See, accompanied by a large part of the pontificate of St. John Paul II and the early years of Benedict XVI. Since 2007, he has been the President of the advisory board of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. The wake took place on July 6 in the sacristy of the Basilica of St Eugene (Viale delle Belle Arti 10, Rome). On the initiative of the vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, an International Conference on the theme Oceans. Caring for a common heritage took place on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 (9 am, Aula Álvaro del Portillo).  The conference was held in collaboration with the Embassies of France, Monaco and the Netherlands to the Holy See. On Friday June 23, 2017, at the Lateran University, was held the Theological Session of the XIV International Symposium of University Teachers: Integral Human Development. Theology in dialogue with social sciences. The program included reports and interventions by teachers and researchers from the Research Center of MCE and our University. Thursday, June 1, 2017 (10 am, Aula A101), in collaboration with the ISCOM Association, the University organized the Meeting "The Diplomacy of the Art", which would bring Zhu Jiancheng, General Secretary of the China Culture Industrial Investment Fund, and the chinese artist Zhang Yan. The China Culture Industrial Investment Fund, which is responsible for the promotion and dissemination of Chinese traditional culture, donated to Pope Francis, on behalf of the Chinese people
On Thursday, May 25, 2017, on the World Africa Day, the University hosted a meeting on Africa, migrants and media. The speakers were journalist Carlos Laorden, Planeta Future-El País, and Antoine Tiabondou, from the School of Church Communications, author of a study on the issue of migrants in the European media. The meeting was organized in collaboration with Harambee Africa International.
