PROGRAM OF CHURCH MANAGEMENT ENGAGES CHURCH LEADERSHIP IN THE UNITED STATES
The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome debuts its new Pontifical program to train future church leaders at the Convocation of Catholic Leaders in Orlando, Florida
July 3, 2017 (Orlando, Florida) – The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross is launching its new Program of Church Management (“PCM”) in February 2018. Students from over eight countries around the world have already begun to register for the program. At the Convocation of Catholic Leaders in Orlando, Florida, the program made strong inroads in the United States, with five dioceses and many more students and partners expressing interest in participating.
The program’s Director of Communication & Global Outreach, Luke Burgis, was present in Orlando to exhibit the program and to meet with Bishops, priests, seminarians, and laity who were interested in learning more about this critical new initiative to equip future church leaders to be effective stewards of material goods.
Burgis, who earned a degree in Sacred Theology from the university, says, “The response to the program in Orlando was overwhelming positive. I received a stellar theological education at Santa Croce. The university is now using its strong foundations in ecclesiology and the social teaching of the church to help future church leaders be the most effective stewards of the gospel possible. Participants in PCM will have access to a world-class philosophy, theology, and communications faculty as well as business leaders from around the world who are collaborating with Santa Croce to make this program one-of-a-kind.”
The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross developed the Program of Church Management (PCM) in partnership with The Catholic University of America, the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN), the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago (Northwestern University), the Leadership Roundtable and the LUISS Business School in Rome, designed to train priests, seminarians, religious, and laity committed to Church service.
PCM will provide future Church leaders with instruction in management, economics, finance, business ethics and social teaching in order to equip them for exemplary stewardship of the Church’s temporal patrimony and to give witness to the gospel.
The invitation to exhibit at the Orlando Convocation of Catholic Leaders was an opportunity for the program to increase its awareness in North America, where up to ten students will be admitted for the 2018-2019 program year beginning in February.
