Conference on "From Alexandria to Nyssa: Clement and Gregory in Conversation", October 28-30
From Thursday 28 to Saturday 30, October 2021, in the Aula Álvaro del Portillo, on the initiative of the School of Theology and the Research Group of Relational Ontology (ROR), the Conference From Alexandria to Nyssa: Clement and Gregory in Conversation was held both in presence and online.
The organizers write about it: "While Gregory of Nyssa’s relation to Origen has been subject to much discussion, there has been little attention to the direct or indirect influence of Clement of Alexandria. This colloquium aims to explore the extent to which it is legitimate to speak of an “Alexandrian tradition” that links these two Fathers. Some questions we would like to consider together are: Is it possible to find in Gregory a way of doing theology that originates with Clement? Is Origen’s legacy a necessary mediation? What are the similarities and differences in these Fathers’ appropriation of the Biblical tradition".
