Interuniversity International Conference "Women in the Church: Architects of the Human," March 7-8, 2024
On the 7th and 8th of March 2024, the University of the Holy Cross hosted the Interuniversity International Conference Women in the Church: Architects of the Human, which took place both in person and online.
The purpose of the initiative was to highlight the aspects in which the woman's role as an "architect" is manifested (education, spirituality, promotion of peace and dialogue, etc.) within the context of the universal Church. This reality is particularly evident in the diversity of countries of origin and in the actions of holy women.
The conference analyzed analyze the figures of Saint Josephine Bakhita (1869-1947), Venerable Magdeleine of Jesus (1898-1989), Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774-1821), Saint Mary MacKillop (1842-1909), Saint Laura of Saint Catherine of Siena (1874-1949), Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (1656-1680), Saint Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997), Saint Rafqa (Rafqa Ar-Rayès) (1832-1914), Blessed Maria Beltrame Quattrocchi (1884-1965), and Servant of God Daphrose Mukansanga (1944-1994).
The organizing committee included not only our university but also the Universidad Católica de Ávila, the Pontifical Teresianum Theological Faculty, the Pontifical Urban University, and the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum.
