Prevention of abuse: collaboration agreement between our University and the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors

The agreement was signed by Cardinal Seán O’Malley, OFM, as President of the Commission, and by Reverend Luis Navarro, the Magnificent Rector of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.
Cardinal O’Malley explained that: “This agreement is part of a network of collaboration agreements that the Commission signs with other ecclesiastical entities to advance its mission, and we are grateful to Holy Cross for its generosity in this project.”
The Rector of Holy Cross commented: “We are pleased to be of service to a crucial and shared effort within the Church, and Holy Cross wants to do its part.”
Specifically, the University of the Holy Cross will be able to host initiatives related to the mission of the PCTM (article 2), as well as facilitate the organization of seminars, training courses for faculty, students, and non-teaching staff, as well as ongoing training activities for Commission staff or internships for PhD students at the PCTM itself (article 5).
The two institutions plan to annually compile a report on the initiatives undertaken, which may be made public through their respective channels.
The collaboration is valid for three years and may be renewed.
