On Thursday, December 5, 2024 (from 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM, Álvaro del Portillo Aula), our University will host the lessons of the 2nd module of the 8th Edition of the Joint Diploma in Integral Ecology, an initiative shared by the Pontifical Universities and Institutes of Rome to spread the vision and mission of Pope FrancisLaudato si'. The lessons, entitled The Gospel of Creation, will be given by Prof. Prem Xalxo of the Gregorian University, Prof. Arturo Bellocq of Santa Croce, and Prof. Linda Pocher of Auxilium.
On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, (from 2:45 PM to 6:15 PM in the Álvaro del Portillo Hall), the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, through its School of Philosophy and the Future Students Department, will host the 2nd University Orientation Day. The event, entitled Discover and enhance your talent. Choose your path, is the result of a collaboration between the Holy Cross, other civil universities in Rome and Italy, various schools, and numerous high school teachers. From February 19th to May 28th, 2025, every Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 4:40 PM, the Schools of Theology and Canon Law are organizing an optional course (3 ECTS) entitled Ecclesial Movements: A Journey of Faith. The Service of Ecclesiastical Law. On Wednesday November 27, 2024, (at 11:30 AM in the Álvaro del Portillo Auditorium) our University hosted a meeting entitled John Paul II and Galileo: A Study Meeting on the Work of the Pontifical Commission for the Study of Copernicanism and the Dialogue between Science and Faith, as part of the John Paul II Days at the Pontifical Universities of Rome, promoted by the John Paul II Vatican Foundation. On the afternoon of Monday, November 25, 2024, the Spanish cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot passed away. He was the prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and titular deacon of San Girolamo della Carità, the chapel of our Library. A Comboni missionary, he was born in Seville 72 years ago. Created cardinal by Pope Francis on October 5, 2019, he took possession of the title of San Girolamo on February 8 of the following year, welcomed by the then Rector of the Church, Philip Goyret. Over the years, he has been a speaker at various initiatives promoted by the University, including specialized courses in religious information. The academic community prays for his eternal rest.
Monday, November 25, 2024, marks the celebration of the School of Philosophy. A Eucharistic celebration and a visit to the Parliamentary Library Complex are planned. On the occasion of our University's 40th anniversary, celebrated in the academic year 2024/25, we are launching the "University Life" Photography Contest, open to students, professors, and administrative staff. Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, December 3, 2024. As outlined in the Official Notice, the contest aims to capture the most significant moments of your university experience through photography. Each participant may submit a maximum of three (3) photographs. Photographs must be original and submitted in JPEG format with a resolution of 300 dpi. On Thursday 21 November 2024 (9:00 am, classroom Álvaro del Portillo), the International Seminar Unitatis Redintegratio promoted by the School of Theology took place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the promulgation of the decree of the Second Vatican Council on ecumenism.
The meeting, which featured speakers from various Christian communions, aimed to reflect on the efforts to promote Christian unity over the last sixty years, in a climate of sincerity and trust.
