Friday, December 13, 2024, saw the traditional ceremony for the awarding of silver medals to those who have completed 25 years of service at the University, in the presence of the Vice Grand Chancellor, Monsignor Mariano Fazio, and the Rector, Fernando Puig.
The medals, bearing the embossed effigy of the first Grand Chancellor and founder of the University, Blessed Álvaro del Portillo, were awarded this year to Professors José Antonio Araña (Canon Law), Daniel Arasa (Communication), Graziano Borgonovo (Theology), Marc Carroggio (Communication), and Dr. Loretta Sanna from the Publications Office.

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, (from 2:45 PM to 6:15 PM in the Álvaro del Portillo Hall), the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, through its School of Philosophy and the Future Students Department, hosted the 2nd University Orientation Day.
The event, entitled Discover and enhance your talent. Choose your path, was the result of a collaboration between the Holy Cross, other civil universities in Rome and Italy, various schools, and numerous high school teachers. It had created an "open round table" as a forum for dialogue between school and university teachers, with the aim of offering young students the best educational and training resources.

A new MOOC (free online course) offered by the School of Communication on Storytelling has been launched on the Discere platform. The course will be available until December 15, 2024.
Led by Professor Juan Narbona, who teaches Value Storytelling at the same School of Communication, the course is accessible in Spanish, English, and Italian. Through 12 video lessons, each lasting 3-4 minutes, the importance and power of stories and how to use them in communication are explained.

On Thursday, December 5, 2024 (from 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM, Álvaro del Portillo Aula), our University hosted the lessons of the 2nd module of the 8th Edition of the Joint Diploma in Integral Ecology, an initiative shared by the Pontifical Universities and Institutes of Rome to spread the vision and mission of Pope Francis' Laudato si'.
The lessons, entitled The Gospel of Creation, were given by Prof. Prem Xalxo of the Gregorian University, Prof. Arturo Bellocq of Santa Croce, and Prof. Linda Pocher of Auxilium.

On the afternoon of Monday, November 25, 2024, the Spanish cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot passed away. He was the prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and titular deacon of San Girolamo della Carità, the chapel of our Library.
A Comboni missionary, he was born in Seville 72 years ago. Created cardinal by Pope Francis on October 5, 2019, he took possession of the title of San Girolamo on February 8 of the following year, welcomed by the then Rector of the Church, Philip Goyret.
Over the years, he has been a speaker at various initiatives promoted by the University, including specialized courses in religious information. The academic community prays for his eternal rest.
Monday, November 25, 2024, marks the celebration of the School of Philosophy. A Eucharistic celebration and a visit to the Parliamentary Library Complex are planned.
On Friday, November 22, 2024 (3rd floor - Palazzo dell'Apollinare), the inauguration of the Nicolaus Copernicus: Pilgrimage to the Stars exhibition took place, organized on the occasion of the Feast of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, Patroness of the School.
