On Friday, February 14, 2025, the academic community of the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of our University celebrated its Patroness with a Jubilee pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
The pilgrimage began in the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare, inside the chapel, in front of the image of the Madonna, with an introductory liturgy and the recitation of a prayer composed to ask for the intercession of the Mother of God for the involvement of the laity in the life of the Church.
There was a large participation of students and faculty, with many of their family members also involved. The pilgrims alternated in carrying the cross toward the Basilica, a symbol of the Institute's mission: to form adult Christians, especially laypeople, who are capable of actively collaborating in the Church's mission by bringing the light of the Gospel into the family, work, and daily life.
After passing through the Holy Door and reciting the Creed at the tomb of St. Peter, the Holy Mass was celebrated in the Basilica at the Altar of the Chair. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Prof. Rafael Diaz Dorronsoro, coordinator of the ISSRA studies, and the liturgy was animated by a choir composed of students and directed by Prof. Angelo D’Acunto.
As reported by the organizers, the event was a profound experience of communion between the members of the academic community and the entire Church.
