Webinar "Made in Prison: Empowerment the generation of economic value"
On 17 May the Markets, Culture and Ethics (MCE) Research Centre hosted the webinar Made in Prison: Empowerment the generation of economic value, second appointment of the webinar series Empowering People. Speakers of the event Leonardo Becchetti (Economist and professor of Economics at Tor Vergata University, Rome), Luciana Delle Donne (Made in Carcere - Officina Creativa, founder), Luca Mongelli (MCE Director, IESE Marie Curie Fellow).
During the webinar we had the opportunity to reflect on how Made in Prison and projects of this type are examples of a new form of economy, a generative economy. These organizations invite the business world with its individualistic and performing logics to take into account the added value of intimacy and fragility of people.
Luciana Delle Donne gave us testimony telling us how Made in Carcere and and the tailoring activity that involves the prisoners supports them in the creation of a new identity, lost in prison, allowing them to return to being fully women and life-generating.
Leonardo Becchetti then explained that economics and finance are constitutively a search for meaning, as evidenced by the motivational crisis that today’s businesses live.
A special thanks to Luca Mongelli, for giving voice to these stories, helping us to understand them, welcome them and decipher them.
The event is part of the webinar series Empowering People organized by MCE, in partnership with the Center for Business in Society from IESE Business School*, Venture Thinking and Humanistic Management.
*This project has received funding from the EU's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Grant agreemnt No. 795925.
