Webinar "Reality and fiction: the myth of Academo"
On November 22 the Markets, Culture and Ethics (MCE) research center hosted the webinar "Reality and fiction: the myth of Academo", second appointment of the webinar series Digital Humanism. Speakers of the event Marta Bertolaso (Professor of Philosophy of Science and Human Development, Campus Bio-medico University of Rome and Founder Venture Thinking) and Marco Gallo (Program Manager, Interlogica). The meeting was moderated by Simone Budini (CeSID Project Leader, Luiss Business School) and Luca Mongelli (MCE Executive Director, IESE Marie Curie Fellow).
The Platonic School owes its foundation to the figure of Academo. Brother of the beautiful Helen of Troy, Academo is the only man not to let himself be ensnared by the beauty of her sister and to see her as she really is. That's why Plato wants to make the Academy the place in which to learn to distinguish the true from the false, revealing the profound truth of things without being deceived by the illusion of the senses.
After all, in the digital world, we are all Elena: we can appear whatever we want. This being the case, we can't help but ask ourselves: does digital really capture who I am? Does it bring out the truth about man or does it hide it?
The webinar series Digital Humanism is organized in partnership with Venture Thinking, Interlogica, CeSID - Competence Center on Sustainability, Innovation, Digitalization of Luiss Business School, the Center for Business in Society of IESE Business School and Humanistic Management.
