Formation Certificates

The Biblical Formation Certificate is awarded to students who attend and pass the exams of the following subjects as part of the three-year Higher Course in Religious Studies:

  • Introduction to Theology (IT)
  • Fundamental Theology (TF);
  • General Introduction to the Bible and Salvation History (IB);
  • Old Testament Exegesis 1: Pentateuch and Historical Books (EBA1);
  • Old Testament Exegesis 2: Prophetic and Sapiential (EBA2);
  • New Testament Exegesis 1: Synoptic Gospels and Acts (EBN1);
  • New Testament Exegesis 2: Corpus Paulinum (EBN2);
  • New Testament Exegesis 3: Johannine Literature and Catholic Letters (EBN3).

Classes may be validated (either all or some) for students who eventually would like to enroll as “ordinary” students in Religious Studies or in the Schools of Philosophy or Theology (PUSC).

The Historical-Philosophical Formation Certificate is awarded to “guest students” who take the following courses and pass their oral exams as part of the first and second year of the three-year Religious Studies program: the formation program can be completed in one or two academic years.

Dividing the classes between the two semesters is implied and these classes might vary, depending on the student’s preferences/needs.

  • Philosophy I: Introduction to Philosophy, Fundamental Metaphysics and Philosophy of God (FIL1);
  • History of ncient and edieval hilosophy (STF1);
  • History of odern and ontemporary hilosophy (STF2);
  • Philosophy II: in Anthropology and of the Philosophy of Knowledge (FIL2)
  • Philosophy III: Elements of Anthropology and of Ethics (FIL3)
  • History and Philosophy of Religions* (SR);
  • Introduction to Pedagogy and General Psychology* (PSP) or General Sociology* (SO).

*these are elective courses that can complement the philosophical disciplines

The Basic Theological Formation Certificate is awarded to “guest” students who take the following courses and pass their oral exams:

  • General Introduction to the Bible and Salvation History (IB);
  • Introduction to Theology (IT)
  • Fundamental Theology (TF);
  • History and Philosophy of Religions (SR);
  • Philosophy I: Introduction to Philosophy, Fundamental Metaphysics and Philosophy of God (FIL1);
  • Fundamental Moral Theology I (TM1);
  • Patrology and History of the Early Church (PA-SC1).

Classes may be validated (either all or some) for students who eventually would like to enroll as “ordinary” students in Religious Studies or in the Schools of Philosophy or Theology (PUSC).
